New Broadcasts can be sent out via SMS if you have the necessary permissions to send on that broadcast tag, AND your mobile number is recorded within the BART system.

This can be achieved by either a smartphone or a non-smartphone, however the SMS must be sent in plain text.

How do I Send a Broadcast via SMS?

1. To send a broadcast message out via SMS, you need to enter in MSG : followed by your broadcast tag.

2. If your broadcast is an alert, you must add in the word ALERT after your broadcast tag. If it’s not an alert, skip this step.

Instead, copy the coordinates into a plain text editor like 'NotePad' to strip out any unwanted formatting first.
