Dedicated SMS Numbers

Dedicated SMS Numbers

What are they?

The BART system offers a range of methods to send and receive broadcast messages. If you don’t have access to a paging or CAD system, you can utilise a ‘Dedicated Virtual SMS Number’.

A dedicated SMS number can be used by brigades, groups and units to receive messages directly through the control centre, which can then be directed to the appropriate BART members. The reason that a dedicated SMS number is required, is because there is no other marker or flag within the message to indicate which brigade, group or unit the message is intended for. Sometimes capcodes are used as a marker within the broadcast message, which can be directed to the Global BART SMS number. In these cases, no additional cost would be incurred.

How much does it cost?

The annual charge for a dedicated SMS number is $300, which is the same price we pay to purchase the number via a third party on your behalf.
